Case study: Smart SMEs Market Validation Program

The Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development's Market Validation Program is based on the premise that by connecting the customer (in this case the government host entity) with small to medium enterprises (SMEs) with expertise in the required technologies, the SMEs are given the scope to innovate to meet an identified need.

This case study profiles an innovative demand-side approach to fostering SME innovation by targetting innovation to unmet public sector needs. By keeping the process simple, it encourages collaboration between SMEs and research centres.
