Policy and Cabinet Group

The Policy and Cabinet Group assists the Premier as head of government and as chair of the main decision-making bodies of government.

We keep the Premier informed of policy issues and advises on appropriate actions and interventions.

Our role includes providing analysis and advice, and undertaking strategic projects for the Premier on economic, social, and resources and infrastructure policy.

In addition, we identify emerging policy issues and carry out practical forward planning. We also review policy and assess the impact of government decisions and actions.

Federalism, Citizenship and Climate Change Group

The Federalism, Citizenship and Climate Change Group provides policy advice and support for Victoria's leadership on major intergovernmental-related issues, including support for the Premier at the Council for the Australian Federation (CAF) and the Council of Australian Governments (COAG).

We also cover multicultural and citizenship policy and programs, counter terrorism responsibilities, whole of government response to emergencies and whole-of-government policy and strategy on the economic, environmental and social impacts of climate change.

Government and Corporate Group

The Government and Corporate Group provides high-quality corporate services and legal advice and manages whole-of-government risk and information security.

We provide advice to the Premier on public sector management and governance and whole-of-government issues, including industrial relations.

We ensure the government's communications are consistent and effective, manage key state events and play a key role in enhancing Victoria's international relations.

Arts Victoria

Arts Victoria advises on and implements arts policy.

We develop the arts and cultural industries across the state and ensure access for all Victorians.

Our role is to:

• improve the knowledge, understanding, appreciation and practice of the arts
• increase the availability and accessibility of the arts
• help provide facilities for arts to be performed or displayed
• assess the arts and report to parliament on potential improvements.

Our targeted programs support the arts to encourage excellence, develop good ideas, build audiences, encourage participation and improve facilities.

We work on cultural development in every part of our community, valuing diversity and Indigenous culture, regional growth and international opportunities.
