Department of Premier and Cabinet
National Education Project

The Department of Premier and Cabinet conducted a major research and policy development project on the national education and training agenda. The project provides a significant, evidence-based contribution to national debate on education and training issues. It serves the dual purpose of promoting a more informed public debate on these issues and developing constructive solutions to identified problems.

Growing Victoria Together has identified that high quality education and training for lifelong learning is a priority for this Government and a robust education and training system is a key determinant of economic prosperity, employment and social cohesion.

This substantial project consists of a policy development process - centering on the goals and purposes of education and training, supported by market research and empirical performance evaluation, leading to a final report that articulates priorities for reform. The final report stands as a contribution to public debate into the future.
