Growing Victoria Together
History

In March 2000 Premier Bracks convened a Summit of key opinion leaders, called the Growing Victoria Together Summit, to discuss the priorities for Victoria. Out of this summit, a strong view emerged on the importance of medium-term (5-10 years) direction setting by Government in the economic, social and environmental spheres.

The first Growing Victoria Together booklet was published in November 2001. It set out the issues important to Victorians and the measures used to show progress, GVT 2001 Booklet (PDF 1.4mb).

A summary document was also published giving a synopsis of the issues, actions and measures in two pages, GVT 2001 Summary (PDF 367kb). In 2001 it was recognised that the vision, goals and measures of progress it set out would evolve over time.

In 2004, the Department of Premier and Cabinet led consultations with Ministers and departments. The update of Growing Victoria Together also carefully considered the views and priorities of Victorians from all walks of life. The refreshed edition was released by Premier Bracks in March 2005, GVT 2005 Booklet (PDF 718kb).
