Effective service delivery by or on behalf of Government requires innovative policy development and coordination mechanisms to provide integrated, forward-looking policy responses that cut across economic, social and environmental boundaries.

| Department of Premier and Cabinet: Review of the Victorian Governments International Network | |
| The Review was commissioned by the Victorian Government in February 2007 to determine the effectiveness of Victoria's international collaborative efforts in meeting its whole of government objectives to promote exports, skills, and innovation-driven productivity growth across the economy. The Review was led by Victoria's Agent General, Mr David Buckingham. |
| Victorias Response to the Indian Ocean Tsunami | |
| On 24 December 2004 the Indian Ocean Tsunami devastated many nations, claiming up to 235,000 lives and destroying billions of dollars worth of property. In the days following the tsunami, the Victorian Government donated $1.5 million to support the emergency response effort. |
| Arts in Community Settings | |
| The Department of Premier and Cabinet, in partnership with the Department for Victorian Communities, released a report examining the outcomes of arts projects in community settings. The report Strengthening Local Communities: Arts in Community Settings presents findings of an evaluation of two Arts Victoria community-focussed grants programs, Arts Development for Communities and Arts Residencies. |
| The Victorian Framework for Critical Infrastructure Protection from Terrorism | |
| The Framework sets out the guiding principles and coordination arrangements which Government and industry should use to develop strategies to protect Victoria's critical infrastructure. | Victorias Sister States | |
| Establishing relationships with states in other countries provides many opportunities to exchange knowledge, encourage international cooperation and develop goodwill. Victoria has formal associations, known as Sister State Relationships, with three states in foreign countries. These relationships foster the development of economic and cultural links which directly benefit Victorians and Victoria’s Sister States. |
| A Comprehensive and Balanced National Water Reform Plan | |
| Victoria shares the Commonwealth’s desire to undertake a reform process which will lead swiftly to healthy rivers and the sustainable use of water resources in the Basin. As outlined in A Comprehensive and Balanced National Water Reform Plan, Victoria believes that this objective can be best achieved through a comprehensive and balanced approach which overhauls the Basin’s outdated governance and investment structures, and also protects the interests of farmers, regional communities and the environment. |

| In recognition of the evolving threat of terrorism to Australia, the Victorian Government has developed a wide-ranging strategy to address the terrorist threat and to attack the causes of terrorism. This strategy is set out in the statement “Protecting Our Community: Attacking the Causes of Terrorism” released by the Premier on 21 September 2005. |
| A Fairer Victoria - The Victorian Governments social policy action plan | |
| The Premier, the Hon Steve Bracks MP, and the Deputy Premier, the Hon John Thwaites MP, launched A Fairer Victoria on 28 April 2005. A Fairer Victoria is the Victorian Government’s social policy action plan. The plan sets out 85 actions the Government will take within fourteen major strategies to address disadvantage in Victoria. |

| Beyond Five Million - The Victorian Governments Population Policy | |
| The Victorian Government's Population Policy explains the Victorian Government's vision for growing our population in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable manner. But as importantly, it identifies strategies to plan for and manage population change. The Population Policy provides a framework for policies designed to increase migration, encourage family formation, increase regional population growth and respond to the challenges of demographic change. |

| The Commonwealth-Victoria Working Party on Migration was established to consider how the Australian Government could work to support the Victorian Government to achieve its objective of encouraging more migrants to settle in Victoria, with a particular emphasis on regional areas, where skills shortages are more acute. It comprised representatives from relevant Commonwealth and State Departments, local government and regional Victoria. |
